UKCC Level one paddlesport coach. Between the 14th and 17th of February 2011 a UKCC Level one course took place at Porthpean centre for a eleven candidates. Four were on our winter training course and the others from sister organizations around Cornwall. This four day course is intensive and all the candidates performed well throughout. with classroom based sessions and on the water practicals despite the February weather everyone achieved level one coach status and left looking forward to a summer of introducing paddlesport to the masses. A big thankyou to Sam Roberts and Andy Barclay for delivering an excellent course. For more information on the UKCC level one and other courses read our canoeing and kayaking page or follow this link to the Canoe England website. STEVE TAKES A SWIM. Feb 7th 2011 will go down in the annals of history as the day steve came out of his boat in one foot of south coast swell. One rogue wave of twelve inches in height was all it took. onlookers were shocked to see Steve many metres from his boat and Kelvin wiltshire who was also capsized by the tsunami style wave said "I couldn't believe it Steve was over there and his boat was over there".
Our Training day this week was coasteering. Coasteering is an exciting and adventurous activity. It allows you to explore and familiarise yourself with your coastline. You get to climb / discover your way around the natural landscape which was designed by the sea. Once you have conquered the heights you can embrace the reward. Jumping off them!Caolan Cantwell.
